microdose plasticity+ program

Explore a revolutionary approach to cognitive enhancement, creativity and well-being through our specialized holistic neurology + group microdosing program.

Mental Clarity & Wellness

why microdose?

Microdosing involves taking sub-perceptual (below the threshold for altering consciousness) doses of psilocybin, a natural compound found in certain mushrooms.

Research has shown that even at these low doses, psilocybin can significantly boost neuroplasticitythe brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. Microdosing has been reported to enhance focus, creativity, mood, and reduce anxiety.

Psilocybin’s ability to re-open critical windows of development has incredible potential for learning, memory, and recovery from brain injuries and other potential outcomes.

Research indicates that the neuroplasticity increase from psilocybin lasts 3-4 weeks, creating a prime window for observable brain changes. Our program capitalizes on this critical re-opening period by stacking other integrative, holistic neurology treatments into the microdosing window to optimize change and growth.

Whether you’re seeking enhanced focus, creativity and wellness, or recovering from stroke, brain injury, chronic illness, mental health challenges, our program offers an expert-led, evidence-based, groundbreaking method to enhance cognitive function, emotional well-being, and rapidly change deeply-held thought patterns and brain habits.

The program’s founder, Dr. Doug Wingate, DTCM, FMHC, L.Ac., MP-MPr, is the only psilocybin facilitator in the United States specializing in this intersection of personalized wellness solutions for neurological, emotional, and neuro-cognitive conditions.

what is included?

microdose plasticity+ program

Our group microdosing program is specifically geared toward people who want to uplevel their cognitive capacity, creativity, focus and brain health by pairing psilocybin with specialty integrative therapies, honed over a decade+ by Dr Wingate.

We pair psilocybin microdoses with adjunctive treatments to enhance overall brain health, boost creativity and support brain + body rehabilitation where needed.

This program is also useful for people who’ve experienced stoke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), complex trauma and PTSD, alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative diseases. dysautonomia, migraine, movement disorders (e.g. Parkinson’s Disease), neuralgia, neuropathies, multiple sclerosis and other nervous system damage.

Screening + Intake

We begin with a thorough intake to ensure psilocybin microdosing is right for you. Much of this paperwork is required by Oregon, but we also include detailed questions about your neuro-rehabilitation goals and specific treatment needs, including complex brain conditions.

( Optional: Neuro-Consult )

For clients with complex neurological conditions, the initial intake paperork may reveal a need for additional neuro-consultation to ensure that psilocybin is a good fit.

In this case Dr. Wingate would initiate a separate consultation to establish baselines, discuss more about your brain challenges and medical history and assess the best path forward.

1 x 90-minute Preparation Session

Once your intake and optional neuro-consult is complete, you’ll have your prep session (in person or virtually with Dr. Wingate to review your medical history, medications, identify your specific needs, intentions and the supplementary interventions / modalities that will maximize neuroplasticity and cognitive function for you.

After this prep session, you’ll have a clear path for tracking the neuro-optimization process, including baseline metrics to compare to after your treatment to assess effiacy.

1 x Meeting with Group Cohort (Optional)

This step is optional, but we like to arrange an opportunity for you to meet the others in your cohort during an online zoom call.

While you’ll only be in shared space with your cohort for 8-10 hours total, research has shown that the emotional support and shared journey of psilocybin groups can significantly increase psychological wellbeing, social connectedness, and other salient mental health outcomes.

8 x Microdose sessions + adjunctive therapies

Our 2 week program is designed based on the most current research on microdosing for safety and maximized brain change, also called  neuroplasticity.

Week 1:

  • Day 1: 1 Hour Microdose Ceremony
  • Days 2-4: 30 minute Microdose sessions + adjunctive therapies*
  • Days 5-7: No microdose sessions; breaks are deliberate to support brain integration time + allow synapses to clear serotonin. Adjunctive therapies can still be used during this time.

Week 2:

  • Days 8-11: Daily 30 minute Microdose Ceremonies
  • Days 11-14: No microdose sessions; breaks are deliberate to support brain integration time + allow synapses to clear serotonin. Adjunctive therapies can still be used during this time.

* Dr. Wingate does not facilitate adjunctive therapies concurrently with psilocybin sessions. The first 30 minutes are psilocybin microdosing, then the next 30 min of adjunctive therapies are delivered under his integrative medicine license.

1 x Group Integration Session

While each microdose + adjunctive therapy session will include convesation, insights sharing and more, this program also includes an official integration session with the full group.

Integration sesssions can include conversations and sharing to discuss challenges or epiphanies, ask follow-up questions and discuss next steps and noticings from the treatment.

maximize neuroplasticity

holistic therapies increase psilocybin's impact on the brain

Our program is specifically designed to catalyze the microdosing window of neuroplasticity increases over the course of a 2-week program, activating deep brain change through built-in personalized integrative medicine treatments during each session:

Binaural Auditory Entrainment

Auditory brainwave entrainment and binaural beats may enhance cognition, increase attention, promote healthy sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, improve memory, enhance meditation, and support mood.

Vagal nerve stimulation

Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) supports relaxation, helps calm abnormal electrical hyperactivity in the brain and can increase blood flow to certain brain regions and increase neurotransmitter levels. VNS can also reduce blood pressure, lower heart rate, boost immunity, reduce inflammation and heal the gut.

communitas

healing in community

Psychedelic research has shown that ceremonial experiences of togetherness and shared humanity, even spontaneous and short-lived, can transcend social structures and create potent interventions for healing. Further, western culture’s tendency toward individualism and private healing often leaves us feeling separate from others, rather than realizing our shared struggles.

This is why we offer psilocybin microdosing in group cohorts, where individuals working on different healing trajectories can support each other in shared intention for change. By working together with a common goal of getting better, we can support each other and feel better mentally. This helps us see that we’re not alone in our struggles—we’re all healing together.

Microdose groups are held in the Fir Forest, our large group + community space which holds up to 10 seated guests. Wall-to-wall old growth fir murals by Jonathan Rigby (Armadel Artworks) wrap the entire space, bringing their protective and communal energy to our center.  The room is cozy with bluetooth speakers, eye masks, blankets, pillows and art-making supplies.

“Communitas during ceremony was significantly correlated with increases in psychological wellbeing, social connectedness, and other salient mental health outcomes… A positive relationship between participants and facilitators, and the perceived impact of emotional support, facilitated the emergence of communitas.”
