liberate your true nature
how mushrooms catalyze healing
Have you ever noticed the incredible role of mushrooms in nature as they transform organic matter like leaves and trees into nourishing compost that revitalizes the soil and promotes new growth?
Psychedelic mushrooms work the same way, digesting and breaking down our rigid and walled inner psyches, rooting out painful experiences and outdated beliefs that are blocking the flow of our vital, essential, connected and whole selves.
Human cultures world-wide have used psychedelic mushrooms for millenia for healing and insight, and modern neuroscience is finally catching up and explaining why they are so effective.
Research indicates that psychedelic mushrooms can expand connectivity, create more global communication in the brain and rewire our prefrontal cortex ververy quickly, with “rapid and enduring improvements up to 30 days following administration.”
Psilocybin has been shown to re-open critical periods of development that have been halted due to traumatic experiences, fostering new and healthier connections in areas related to emotion, memory, motivation, thinking, and attention. Our clients often report a new sense of self, an enhanced sense of connectedness and acceptance and feelings of awe and relaxation.
how do mushrooms feel?
psilocybin: a generous + wise ally
Psilocybin mushrooms carry the wisdom of earth and replenishment: they are like ancient grandmothers, holding deep knowledge of the cycles of life. Mushrooms know how to support the release of what is ready to be let go, back into the earth to enrich the soil to prepare for new life, for new seeds to grow.
Our clients report psilocybin journeys connecting them to this wisdom of nature, of cycles, of wisdom. They often report a deep and rooted sense of belonging, of being part of the unending natural cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. Psilocybin-containing mushrooms produce changes in consciousness, mood, perception, and sensory experience. This may include feeling a profound sense of union with all of existence, getting out of the sense of a separate self, into more transpersonal, “unitive”, or nondual experiences.
A commonly reported effect is that the mind seems to become more open and accepting under the influence of psilocybin, and sensory experience can become heightened: for instance, seeing swirls of color, movement and texture, vibrancy and aliveness in the material world.
The intensity of the journey is directly related to the dose consumed and the strength of the mushrooms in terms of their psilocybin content. Things you might find aesthetically pleasing (art, nature, music) can become be experienced as more beautiful with psilocybin. Because normal sensory experience is more heightened, the optimum physical setting for a psilocybin mushroom experience is somewhere comfortable and safe, where the amount of sensory input is low or can be controlled.
Designing for this, we’ve chosen fabrics, decor, textures, rugs and pillows that are soft, relaxing and comforting, with plenty of green plant friends to bring the beauty of nature into your experience.
how does this work?
the journey process
In 2023, Oregon legalized the supervised use of psilocybin, sometimes called “magic mushrooms,” for adults over 21. Oregon’s Ballot Measure 109 mandates that psilocybin must be consumed at licensed service centers, supervised by licensed facilitators and via licensed manufacturers. Here’s how the process works:
Decide if Psilocybin is Right for You
Choose a Licensed Facilitator
First, you’ll choose one of our highly skilled guides, all of whom are state-licensed psilocybin facilitators.
We work with a team of caring and wise guides from a range of backgrounds, including extensive integrative healthcare and mental health expertise.
Medical Screening + Intake
We’ll set you up as a client into our HIPPA-compliant heath records system, and we’ll send you the intake forms.
Then, your chosen faciliator will review thoroughly your medical history and intake to begin to plan your psilocybin journey.
(Certain medical issues are contraindicated; you can take our survey here to make sure you qualify for psilocybin. )
Much of the intake paperwork is required by Oregon, but we also include detailed questions about your healing goals and desires.
Sometimes this process leads to additional steps, for instance, discussing more with your primary care doctor or needing a more thorough medication consult, which we can help you set up.
1-2 Preparation Sessions
After reviewing your intake paperwork, your chosen facilitator will arrange one or more preparation sessions to review your history, medications if applicable, discuss the nature of the journey and answer questions.
They’ll also collaborate with you to support the right mindset and intentions for the journey, discuss how you’d like the space to feel, what kinds of supplies and ritual items you might choose to bring, and more.
Your faciliator will also collaborate with you on the right psilocybin dosage, which can range from 12-48mg.
The dosage decision is ultimately client-led, and informed by your comfort level, intention, prior experience with psilocybin, and whether you re taking SSRI/SSNI medications.
Facilitators offer 1 or 2 preparaton sessions as part of their cost. (A minimum of 1 prep session is required by Oregon law.)
the mushroom journey session
After the prep session[s] you’re ready for the journey! 7 Gates staff will greet you, receive your cash payment for the pislocybin, and get you settled into your chosen journey room.
You will prepare your psilocybin dose in our kitchen, where we offer tea, chocolate, fruit, honey and ginger treats to go along with your mushrooms.
Your journey will last for 4-6 hours, sometimes more depending on dosage. Once you and your facilitator have agreed that you have arrived back, you can … ? take a walk? talk a bit with your faciliator? move into your pre-determined travel arrangments?
After a journey, we recommend a quiet evening including time outdoors if possible, for self-reflection, journaling and rest.
1-2 integration sessions
Facilitators offer 1 or 2 integration sessions as part of their cost.
Integration sessions are not required by law, however we highly recommend at least one.
Integration sessions can include:
- Conversation and sense-making
- Discuss challenges or epiphanies
- Follow-up questions and different ways
to work with profound experiences - Art-making, somatic support
- Breathwork and processing feelings
how much does it cost?
We use a flexible pricing model
The cost of individual psilocybin journeys ranges from $1,200 – $3200 depending on facilitator, dosage, and sliding scale pricing, If you qualify for more financial assistance via our equity program, journeys can be as low as $600. Calculating the cost is a part of the journey planning process we can help you with. Here’s how it works:
CHOOSE YOUR FACILITATOR
Each facilitator has a different cost structure. Most accept sliding scale + financial hardship applications.
ADD THE ROOM ReNTAL COST
You’ll pay your facilitator directly for their services, plus the 7 Gates journey room rental charge.
PAY CASH FOR PSILOCYBIN*
Psilocybin + service center fee = $250-$460 for 20mg-48mg dose* & must be paid in cash to 7 Gates.
*The standard dosage for most journeys is 20mg-35mg, based on guidelines from therapuetic psilocybin research trials.
*Dosage may be less or more depending on client’s medication status (SSRI/SSNI), prior experience, comfort level and intentions. Your chosen faciliator can help you decide dosage during the preparation session.
need financial assistance?
apply for the psilocybin access fund
