MEET THE FACILITATOR
Mae Ghylin-Base
Mae's practice centers on returning to fiṭra, Arabic for the original self beneath the layers of trauma and social conditioning.
Mae came to this work through her own healing. After a decade of trying one modality after another, from EMDR and Internal Family Systems to martial arts and yoga, she needed something that could reach her deeper subconscious. Psychedelics met her there. They gave her the ability to be present — in the moment, and in her own body.
Her B.A. in Arabic and SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) Cultures took her to Morocco, Palestine, Jordan, and Egypt. Since then she has worked in resettlement services for newly arrived immigrants, as an advocate for immigrant survivors of domestic violence, and as a program coordinator at a sensory-affirming mental health intensive outpatient program for neurodivergent teens and young adults. She is a yoga teacher with additional certifications in trauma-informed teaching and somatic healing.
Alongside conversation, Mae brings in somatic techniques, ritual, and creative exercises, so that preparation and integration engage more than the cognitive mind. She is comfortable with material that is cultural, political, or religious as well as personal, and focuses on women's experiences and gender roles, religious harm and deconstruction, immigration, and living between cultures. Her goal is to offer each client emotional safety, cultural humility, and respect for their own agency and intuitive wisdom.
